An Eventful Day...

So I don't usually post without any pictures, but I have been TERRIBLE lately about pulling the camera out and taking pictures. I also feel like I've kindof had "blogger's block" lately and really didn't know what to write about! Anyway, today we had an eventful day. It started out pretty slow this morning because I was exhausted after a terrible nights sleep. Dave had to go to Pheonix yesterday and of course, both kids decided to sleep terrible. It started out with me going to bed about midnight, which I really need to work on. I tell myself every night that I am going to go to bed earlier, but for some reason it doesn't happen! Then, Halle woke up crying because she is fighting a little cold and couldn't breathe, so I had her sleeping on my chest for a little while, and then I was woken by Brynlee at 2 a.m. wanting to be awake and to turn on the TV! Not Happening!!! So after going back and forth between them, I finally fell asleep just long enough for Halle to wake up at 6:00 wanting to eat and Brynlee following right after at 6:15, and this time there was no talking her out of being awake! (I know...you are all exhausted just reading this aren't you:)) Of course this only happens when Dave is gone. Ok, Ok....Moving on! So we were starting to get ready to head to the gym when I got a phone call from my good friend Damon and his wife Jessica and they wanted to do lunch! Well it doesn't take much to talk me out of the gym, so we threw ourselves together and went to see them. I hadn't seen Damon in years, so it was a lot of fun to catch up and be able to meet his cute family! Thanks Damo....lets do it again sometime!! Afterwards we headed home for naptime and after waking we decided to hit the park.....thanks to our 60 degree weather and sunny skies.......all you up north are jealous, I know! :) After lots of fun of swinging and sliding I noticed Brynlee kept pulling her shirt up in the back and scratching right around her waist line. After seeing her do this a few time I asked her to come here and found that she was being somewhat attacked and biten by RED ANTS!!! Ahhhhhh!!! I tried to swat off all the ones I could see, but didn't get them all, so I took her to the car and stripped her down. Poor kid had little bite marks on her belly and back, but luckily she didn't freak out too much! If it would have happened to me, this would have been a different story. Anyway, I had put her in the front seat where she started to play a little bit and I proceeded to put Halle back in her carseat while she was messing around in the front seat. I then strapped Brynlee into her carseat.....shut the door.....walked around the car to get in AND.....IT WAS LOCKED!!! Both kids in the car, in their carseats, locked in!!!! Brynlee had pushed the lock button without me knowing when the doors were open, so I had no idea. Of course, my cell phone was in the front seat of the car and Dave was/is out of town....so what do I do? Thanks to a nice person at the park for lending a cell phone, I called 911 and an officer came and unlocked my doors. I was just standing at the window talking to Brynlee trying to keep her calm. She cried a little, but was a trooper. Halle luckily had no clue what was going on, and was sitting in her carseat playing with her feet! I couldn't help from just laughing after it was all said an done, cuz it could have been a lot worse! Don't know if anyone else has ever done this, but it isn't a good feeling! *********************************************************
Brynlee said something funny today.....like most every day! We were talking and I heard her say "stupid". Now she knows this is a bad word, and scolds Dave and I if she ever hears us saying it, so I told her that we don't say that word. I told her if she said it again she was have to go to timeout because lately she has gotten a little mouthy pulling an attitude with me, so I am trying to fix that problem. So guess what her response to me was after I told her she might have to go to timeout......"WHATEVER!" With a shrug of her shoulders! She has been using this word a lot more lately, and seems to always use it in the right context. Like I said....ATTITUDE!!

hahaha...holy crap! Good luck with the whatever shrug. :) At least you know she won't be a pushover when she gets older. haha. As for the car locking experience...wow! I bet you were so freaked out. That's one of those stories that is a funny one to tell, but definitely a horrible one to experience. Glad it all worked out and you got the red ants out. (Your whole day really sounds like it's out of a book/movie.) Hope the rest of your time without Dave goes well. I hate it when Gavin leaves! I'm jealous you were able to see Damon and Jessica. They are so cute. Talk with you soon!

You seriously had a crazy day! and with Dave gone, it only adds to it. I probably would have panicked with the door situation, lucky the cops showed up so quickly to help you out. Brynlee cracks me up with her attitude, not that it's so funny for you but good times to look forward to with Kenedee.

What a night! It really did make me tired just hearing about it! I swear it always seems to happen all at once - never one kid at a time:) Hang in there.

I'm so sorry!! What a rough night (and day)!! I HATE being home alone with the kids. I can't believe Brynlee said whatever to you. That is too funny (well probably not for you). I just can't even see her saying that. I hope Dave gets home soon so that you can get a break. You'll have to go do something for your self once he gets back.(I personally go for a pedicure after Court has been gone for awhile)

I'm so sorry that happened! I've decided that kids have a built-in radar that makes them wake up in the night if their dad is gone--my kids have mastered this as well. Whenever you really NEED them to sleep, they don't!
It was so fun to see you guys last weekend. I wish we could do it more often. (p.s. I still have this little baby gift for you at my house--will you or Dave be up here any time soon?)

whew, what a day. my goodness. The ant story just brakes my heart. That would be the worst, although I'm glad she handled it ok. And the car keys?? I would have been a mess. I'm glad it all worked out ok.

Attitude or not, Brynlee is too cute!! (Easy to say from far away, right?)

Hey guys. I was a friend of David Andrew's from BYU. We used to work together in the church archeology department discovering lost church sites, mostly outside of Kirtland. I'm not sure if he remembers me? We also pioneered a church bingo game for awhile. I found your blog because it was linked on Jay Lisonbees who's was linked from Phillipe. Looks like you guys are doing great, tell David I said hi.

It was so fun to finally meet you. Honestly, your little girls are the cutest and Brynlee is about as spunky as they come. My B kept asking where her new friend went. My brothers were trying to teach my B "whatever" while we were up there. So sassy. I love it.

Wow! What a day! Don't kids realize we can only take so much? :) You're such a good mom! It's amazing how tired these guys make you, huh?

Tiff,

Those leg warmers look so cute with jean skirts--they also are one size, so I put them on both my girls. Sorry it took me so long to get those to you!

I know just what you went through!! My sister and I were at the seattle airport and to make a long story short, the kids locked themselves in the car!! It was awful. so I feel for you. As for Brynlee, if she is anything like Isabel, get used to it!!
