K-so I just finished watching the Oprah show where she had the two 14 yr old's on that were wanting to have sex. Can I just say DISTURBING!!! First of all, the show started with the "sex" therapist saying how she thought we should teach our girls about "self pleasure" and I was dying! Seriously...what is this world coming to?? I won't go into the details, but in my opinion....SO WRONG!!
Then there is this YOUNG couple who thinks they love eachother and are ready to have sex. The boy is sitting there with his peach fuzz, looking weeks past puberty and OF COURSE HE THINKS HE'S READY TO HAVE SEX!!! HE'S A BOY!! Man, those teenage years are just sooo based on hormones. Thank goodness the therapist scared the young girl a bit about getting pregnant, so she will hopefully prolong losing her virginity.
My sheltered LDS life doesn't seem bad right now! Nope, not at all! Oh, if I could only put my little girls in a time capsule and keep them young and innocent! They said 1 in 5 kids are losing their virginity by the age of 15. Can I just say...SIGNS OF THE TIMES! I'm scared....I hope I'm prepared.....and I hope I can prepare my girls for this world!

I thought the same thing when I watched it! Im definitely scared to send my kids into that big world. I'm up for a playdate, but it looks like the end of the week might be better weather!
Saw it, just as disturbed as you were! When Adam and I found out we were having a baby girl, everything changed! We are terrified for when she hits her teens, it's so scary.
I must say, I did not see it until your comment, then I had to watch it. Uh......(That's about all I can think to say right now, seriously)
AMEN to everything you said! Doesn't it just make you sick to think about what kind of world our girls will have to deal with growing up!? Yeah, if only we could keep our kids in a little bubble, but still give them the experience of "life"... if only! It does give me hope in knowing that these children of ours were specifically sent down by our Heavenly Father at this time, because they were strong enough to handle it. But, we definitely have a huge responsibility as parents!
sheesh!
I didn't see that Oprah but I saw one previously with that same Dr. who brought up teaching your girls about "self pleasure." One woman stood up from the audience and said that we should teach our children self control. I wanted to give her high five and a big hug. Some people still have standards in this crazy, scary world.
It's scary what you have to teach your kids at a much younger age these days.
I'm jealous you still get to watch Oprah! How do you find the time? That is so scary. I feel bad for the world our kids have to live in. You'll prepare your kids just fine. You and Dave are awesome!! BTW, I LOVE your girls Easter dresses. They are both so beautiful. It doesn't surprise me a bit. Take care and enjoy the Jones'. So sad to see us all dissipate from Kansas City. We'll have to have a reunion sometime. =)
I saw that episode, but I missed the part about self-pleasure. That is disturbing. I'm so scared for my kids. I just want to keep them at home forever where no one else can influence them.
can't believe what you were telling me about that episode! I thought that Opera was classier than to have a show like that. It is a scary world, maybe living in a more sheltered place won't be such a bad thing after all:) (that is really the only part I am concerned about, but after all of the things I have seen and heard since starting school, I am really looking forward to being more sheltered!!)
k-You are hilarious! I saw this too and TOTALLY freaked out!!! I had to turn it off I couldn't take it anymore. I told Heath our girls are never going to leave the house!!! So scary!
(And what the heck...self-pleasure? I liked the lady who stood up and said that's just like buying her boys porn..what's the difference?)
