I got rid of the binky!!!! Yesterday morning I was soooo sick of hearing Brynlee whine for her binky that I decided it was time! It had to happen one day, so why not right then! Since the baby was born she has been using her binky a lot more and had it in her mouth the majority of the day. I figured with the adjustment she was going through I would let it slide, but it had gone on long enough. She was famous for chucking it randomly when she was going to eat something or for other reasons, and then she would ask for it and the search was on. I would tell her that she needed to find it, and she would cry and whine and say "No mommy, you find it!!" Followed by "Please, Please". Ahhhhh! I was sooooo sick of looking for her binky, so I said "that's it"!! I cut a hole into the one she was currently using and that definitely bugged her. I just told her that it was broken. She was a little upset, but did pretty well. She went down for her nap fine, and then to bed fine last night. Freak.....if I knew it was going to be that easy I would have done it a long time ago!! She has asked for it a couple of times, but I just tell her that it is broken, and that she is my big girl now. It took long enough, but I finally did it!!!

this cracks me up! Tiff..she is so cute!
Nice job Tiff! When are you coming up for Christmas? Do you guys know yet?
good for you!! it's seriously a scary step for a mom bc u have to prepare for the battle that is sure to ensue. i'm so happy that she did so well. i was really blessed too with brooklynn. she gave it up without a fight. we look forward to seeing ya'll again.
yay! I think giving up the binki was harder for Court and I then it was for Alexis. We did the same thing. Cut the end right off and told her it was broken. She threw it away and that was it!! I'm glad Brynlee handled it so well!!
that is awesome! i have heard several people say that way works. i'll keep that in mind. ellie is attached to that thing now--and i can tell that her mouth is forming differently from it. i keep saying "it's not a good time to get rid of it" great for you!@!!!!
Tiff- on my goodness, randomly I found your blog! We were roomates right before you got married... until I moved downstairs that is! But anyways- Kelley Williams. So much fun to read up on your life! And I have to tell you as I was reading about your binki cutting experience it was as if I wrote it myself! My little guy, Mason, is two and we did the same thing and he said the exact same things! So cute. Well your girls are adorable. I am so happy for you!
Love,
Kelley Hauck
Hey Tiff, it has been awhile since I've been able to check your blog & was so happy to find so many updates on your cute family! First of all, CONGRATS on the binky. I am so scared to take it away! Ava may be five when I finally get the guts to just do it. We use it more of a "plug" than anything so I am really scared not to have that safety net to fall back on in public (like sacrament mtg:)) Also, Halle is such a doll. I hope I can see her over the holidays. You have such beautiful girls - even in the mornings when they have crazy hair! (That is my favorite picture BTW:)Oh also, I wanted to tell you that Ava had to watch "Bynee" jumping on her bed at least 3x today! She thinks it is the funniest thing she has ever seen. She just giggles & says "Mommy, that Bynee is so funny!" And I am still amazed everytime that Brynlee knows EVERY word to "I am a child of God"!!!
