Goodbye Dr. Pepper...

Today I confirmed that it is time for me to give up my beloved Dr. Pepper....(sigh)! While we were in Utah this past weekend there were a couple of days that Halle would not settle, would throw up a whole meal plus some, and was not acting normal. I just kind of chalked it up to traveling and possibly just having a fussy time, but my mom mentioned that it could be Dr. Pepper or the caffeine in it. I mentioned it to her doctor this past week and he said that caffeine does have the potential to upset a babies stomach. Now I don't drink it that often, but I do enjoy one when I go out to eat. While I lived in Idaho my consumption increased some because we ate out more often, so I have known that I needed to cut back. Now especially since I really need to lose my baby weight...plus some, the calories that I drink definitely need to go. Anyway, I got a Dr. Pepper today and honestly wasn't really thinking about it and poor little Halle was pretty upset. It first started with her totally throwing up and then I could tell that she was really tired, but she wouldn't fall asleep. She started crying (which she really doesn't do much) and I had to hold and bounce her to try and calm her. It broke my heart knowing that I did it to her! :( So I guess that it is a blessing in disguise because I need to stop drinking it anyway. SO LONG MY SWEET DR. PEPPER....I WILL MISS YOU!!! (i'm retarded...I know!)

Hey Tiffany. I got addicted to Dr. Pepper when I was pregnant because I was sick all the time, and it was the only thing that made me feel better. I had the same problem as you when the baby was born. I had to cut out Dr. Pepper, chocolate, and Mexican food. I almost wanted to give up nursing. After a couple of months of being very good about not eating certain things, my mom said he was probably getting old enough to tolerate those things a little better. I slowly started putting them back into my diet. So down the road a couple of months, if you want to have a Dr. Pepper at dinner, Halle will probably be okay. Good luck. I hope you guys are doing well.

I was so lucky that my babies didn't mind my caffiene intake! I really think I'm addicted to Coke and by the looks of my tummy, I'm thinkin' I should be looking into a "NO POP" vow! Just when I say I'm going to stop, I feel like I crave it!! Now Tylee is wanting pop so I think I'm going to have to jump on the water bandwagon - unfortunately:( Good luck and I hope it helps with Halle's tummy trouble. We miss ya!

It will probably be easier to curb the DP while you know that it is hurting Halle. Good luck! I could send you some Dr. Pepper flavored jelly beans from the Jelly Belly Factory if it would help! haha. But they really do make them FYI.
